The first part to our quit smoking guide is understanding how smoking becomes addictive. Once you discover the roots of the addiction, it is much easier to remove the behaviour.
* Addiction to nicotine: Nicotine is a substance found in tobacco that is highly addictive. Smoking trains your body to receive regular doses of nicotine. With time your body requires more nicotine and you begin to increase the number of cigarettes you smoke each day. Although addictive, nicotine itself is not very harmful. However, the other ingredients found in cigarettes are extremely dangerous to your health.

*??Mental addiction: As you continue to add nicotine daily, smoking becomes routine. Many cigarettes are smoked because of the ritual, not because of the need for more nicotine. Some people only smoke in nightclubs or at cocktail parties. Others will light up after a meal.
